Excellent condition with no pitting, lettering and serial number are very sharp. I shoot mine with cast lead bullets at reduced velocities. Rock Island M1903 sn 268xxx Specs: Receiver: manufactured 1918, labeled U.S.
Mine was made in 1906, so yours was most likely also made that year. Mine was re-barreled with a 1919 barrel, so I assume that was the year it was re-barreled.

30-06, 24” barrel with a poor bore.Test fired and groups 8"50 yards.This rifle has a 6-18 dated, “RIA” barrel with “C107” lot number on the underside.The metal retains approximately 85% plus of the original parkerized finish with some plum-brown mixing and mild silvering at the muzzle and other projecting edges.Further silvering can be seen on the Springfield-made, swept handle bolt.The walnut stock and handguard are in very good condition with an added military oil finish over numerous small handling marks and blemishes throughout and a faint but still visible cartouche is present on the left side of the wrist.The rifle has a Boyt-made leather target sling installed that has a great deal of crazing and flaking at the flex points.Additionally, the rifle comes with an original and still serviceable 1903 leather rifle scabbard with “D&S/11-18” maker stamp and “J.E.W.” inspector stamp.This is a handsome Rock Island Arsenal-made '03 that comes with a great original accessory. I also have a Rock Island in the 70,000 serial number range. The serial number fell more than 100,000 numbers below the safe range, but I bought it anyway. I recently picked up an M1903 rifle made at Rock Island in 1909.
